Lee's Simes Named ITA National Senior Player Of The Year

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2025 ITA Division II Women's National Award recipients on Tuesday after releasing the Regional Award honorees Monday afternoon. Lee University's Ashleigh Simes was named the ITA National Senior Player of the Year and also earned  ITA South Region Senior Player of the Year..

The ITA Senior Player of the Year award honors the senior student-athlete who had the best year among all student-athletes in his/her class. The national award winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 20.

Simes led the Lady Flames to a 13-4 record and the program's first trip to the NCAA Division II South Regional.
She posted an overall singles record of 23-3, including a 15-2 mark in dual matches. Simes also tallied a record of 14-6 in doubles competition.

During the fall season, she went 4-1 and made it to the semifinals of the ITA South Regional Championships and then claimed four straight matches to win the ITA Cup Singles Championship.

Simes had previously been named the James O'Hara Sargent Sportsmanship Award winner, College Sports Communicators 2024-25 Academic All-District®, First Team All-GSC, GSC Player of the Year and GSC Top Ten. She was ranked No. 1 in the latest ITA Division II national rankings (April 30).
