Derwood Kendrick, of Apison, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025 on his 94th birthday.

A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Mr. Kendrick was retired captain from the Chattanooga Fire Department, after 27 years of service.

A longtime general contractor and renovator, Mr. Kendrick was of the Baptist faith.

He held memberships with the VFW and the American Legion Post #95 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Kitty Kendrick; Horace and Opal Kilgore; and sister, Nina Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Georgia Kendrick; three sons, Scott Kendrick, Tampa, Fl., Dirk Kendrick, Apison, and Tim Kendrick, South Pittsburg; sister, Gaynell Pickering, Chattanooga; brother, David (Debbie) Kilgore, East Ridge; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 5, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Colloms officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ooltewah Baptist Church.
