Lookouts Split Sunday Doubleheader

  • Sunday, June 29, 2025

After back to back rainouts on Friday and Saturday the Chattanooga Lookouts split their doubleheader with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Sunday to conclude the series. Pensacola took four out of five games in the rain shortened series.

After a few poor pitching performances in a row starter Kevin Abel and reliever Trevor Kuncl combined to allow only two hits and one run in game one. Abel went six strong innings to pick up his second win of the season. He struck out six. Kuncle tossed a perfect seventh inning to collect his ninth save of the season. His earned run average is now 1.50 on the year.

Offensively, the Lookouts scored their four runs on only five hits. Third baseman Sal Stewart continued his hot hitting with two of the five hits and is now hitting .328 on the season.

Game two was a different story. The two were tied 3-3 forcing extra innings when the Blue Wahoos exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth. Relief pitcher Simon Miller gave up six hits and was charged with all seven runs in an inning and two thirds. Four of the six hits were homeruns. Miller moves to 1-3 on the season.

Sal Stewart hit his ninth homerun of the season in game two. Austin Callahan and Edwin Arroyo had two hits apiece.

The Lookouts travel to Birmingham for a three game set before hosting the Barons Friday through Sunday.
